Wilshire Country Club and Los Angeles a 'Home Away from Home" for Two-time Defending Champion Hannah Green

LOS ANGELES - Hannah Green strolled down the 18th fairway at Wilshire Country Club to “Hannah!” chants and applause. She started the final round of the JM Eagle LA Championship in a tie for the lead, but then did what she always seems to do in Los Angeles: separated herself from the pack and won over the course and fans.
Green shot a final-round 5-under 66, her best round of the tournament, to win back-to-back years at Wilshire. The love affair with this course and this city is real.
The only thing that can seemingly stop Green at Wilshire is the upcoming course renovation that will see the Los Angeles stop at another venue in 2025 before returning here in 2026.
She made note of that while celebrating at the 18th.
“Yeah, I'm not sure where we're playing next year. I haven't actually heard. I joked and said, yeah, I wish they had let me know and approved it),” Green said. “But I did look at the flyover (of the course renovation) on YouTube, and I think it's going to look fantastic. Really excited for 2026, and I hope all the members are really excited for us to come back because we certainly enjoy coming here.”
The 27-year-old Australian has dominated at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles with four top 3 finishes in the last four seasons. She won in a two-hole playoff last year. In 2022, she finished second in a year that was otherwise a struggle. In 2021 - when it was the DIO Implant Open - she finished in a tie for third.
She’ll defend her title next year, but it’s unclear where.
Fans cheered Green as she’s become a personal favorite. She’s got her go-to spots for food, a family she always stays with here and just great mojo.
She chipped in for birdie on hole No. 12 and made a putt from off the green to eagle the 15th hole, where she took a four-shot lead.
When she sunk her final putt Sunday, fellow Australian and friend Grace Kim jumped up and down, then sprayed her with water. Kim had a difficult weekend on the course but she flipped the switch and supported her friend. Then came a soaking of champagne from players and friends. She got champagne in her eyes, too. The stingy sensation wasn’t much trouble when it comes with another win on the LPGA Tour and the $562,500 winner’s check.
“Yeah, I really love it here obviously,” Green said. “It does feel somewhat like home in a sense that I have so many people that come and watch me. There are a lot Aussies come as well and cheer me on.”
And so many children. After she hoisted the trophy and took dozens of pictures with course attendants to Wilshire members, she signed autographs for children who waited for more than 30 minutes. After interviews, she signed more autographs for kids.
Aside from missing the cut at The Chevron Championship, the season’s first major, she’s been grooving.
Green got married to Jarryd Felton, a professional golfer, in January. The two bought a house to start the year, moved in, and then the golf season began. It’s been a winning combination for Green, who already has two victories in the first four months of the year.
Last year, Green played the final round here in a red sweater and held up the trophy on a gloomy, overcast day. This year, it was a picturesque day with that Hollywood sign visible from the course. The sun was shining as she posed for pictures on the 18th green and again in front of the little Hollywood sign (for photo opportunities) near the putting green.
Green frequents the Great White Cafe, a place Justin Bieber has been spotted at, and had a breakfast sandwich Sunday and other days, too.
“That was my go-to this year,” Green said. “It's like a burger bun. It's not very heathy. It was a burger bun, bacon, cheesy hash, eggs, and avocado. And special sauce.”
Green has the special sauce at Wilshire.
